This is where I will be sharing the creative adventures of myself, Mr and (8 year old) Master M, and our family and friends. Hopefully you'll find artistic inspiration and ideas and I have a feeling there may be the occasional mention of cake.
I'd love to hear what you and your family do when you get creative - please do leave a comment on the blog or you can tell me all about it here.
Baking a DifferencePosted on 9:09pm Wednesday 16th Nov 2011 A few weeks ago Master M was inspired to begin hatching a plan to raise money for Children in Need by taking part in the Blue Peter Bake a Difference Bake Sale. Every year on his birthday he takes number butter biscuits into school to share with his class mates. Knowing how much the children like the biscuits, Master M decided that selling these at school would be a great money spinner. Together we refined a plan that involved sending out order forms to all 600 children at school, giving them the choice of star or heart-shaped biscuits in packs of 6 or 12. Whilst we waited for orders to (hopefully) flood in, Master M wrote to several of our local supermarkets to ask for support for our endeavours. All the preparation was worth the effort and we had a fantastic response in both orders and donated ingredients. So, at the weekend the baking began.......and continued for a few days!
Master M had intended to offer the children a choice of sprinkles for the biscuit decoration but with the possibility of a large quantity of orders we realised that this could become a logistical nightmare! As you can see we went for multi-coloured spotty sprinkles to tie in with the theme of the Children in Need campaign. Our kitchen has been a hive of activity, we've been recording orders, baking biscuits, packing and labelling and today Master M delivered the last batch of biscuits to his customers at school. The only thing we seemed to have forgotten to do is take many photos but I think the figures speak for themselves! 1098 biscuits 151 packets An amazing £435.50 raised for Children in Need!
Master M has put his heart into the whole project and we are all proud of what we've achieved together. Tomorrow we have the really lovely task of taking biscuits and thank you cards to all the people who have supported our fundraising efforts. I am also going to be re-launching an updated version of our original and very popular 'cookie' cards with £1 from every card purchase in November going to Children in Need. So, if you missed out on a packet of biscuits then you can still get a taste of our fundraising action with the purchase of a 'virtual' biscuit greeting. All will be revealed tomorrow! If you did buy some of our biscuits, we hope you've enjoyed them and a big thank you from us all for supporting Master M's Master Plan. If you're also getting busy for Children in Need and the Blue Peter Bake a Difference Bake Sale we'd loved to hear about it either on the comments below or on our Facebook page. Rose x.
