This is where I will be sharing the creative adventures of myself, Mr and (8 year old) Master M, and our family and friends. Hopefully you'll find artistic inspiration and ideas and I have a feeling there may be the occasional mention of cake.

I'd love to hear what you and your family do when you get creative - please do leave a comment on the blog or you can tell me all about it here

For me the start of Advent coincided with an un-planned blog break. Its good to be back and I thought I would update you on some of our creative preparations for Christmas. I'm really looking forward to sharing lots of children's beautiful artwork I've been working with but as many of the notecards ordered are destined to be gifts I will have to be patient and tell you more after Christmas.

This beautifully worked train has heralded the start of my Advent since I was a little girl. My Mum originally made it for my sister and when I came along 2 sets of little parcels were hung on every day's loop. Now we are both grown and have children of our own we take turns to share the fun of this heirloom with our families. This year it is Master M's turn to enjoy the anticipation of opening a parcel each day and, as he discovered on the 1st, this year I have also added a fun innovation to the usual sweetie treat.

It was the first day of Master M’s half term holiday on Friday and and what a Lego filled day it was! Lego seems to be the wind down and relax toy of choice for so many children and I can quite see why. With a little imagination and ingenuity these components can take on the form of anything that a child could care to dream. I’m sure that given half a chance many adults would also be happy to indulge and get creative with a box of Lego bricks.

Well, on Friday I did just that but not in reality, on this occasion, because we were using virtual Lego bricks to build our creations. If you have children who want to play on the computer a little more than you’d like then maybe Lego Digital Designer is the compromise that will satisfy parents and children alike. This excellent virtual building software  can be downloaded free from the lego website for Windows PC and Mac OSX.
